                        Real-Life Monsters and Hobbits

WASHINGTON, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Geographic Channel kicks
off spring with a fascinating slate of new shows every Sunday night in March.
Witness the development of a human life "In the Womb"; join the ultimate
detective story in "Search for the Ultimate Survivor"; unearth the truth
behind the legend of "Hogzilla"; count down "National Geographic's Most
Amazing Moments"; and, on Easter Sunday, challenge conventional wisdom about
one of Christianity's defining events in "Quest for Truth: The Crucifixion."

NGC's March "Super Sunday" premieres include:

    IN THE WOMB (Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/ 9 p.m. PT)
From the moment of conception, every human embryo embarks on an incredible
nine month odyssey of development fraught with uncertainty. Now, cutting-edge
technology makes it possible to open a window into the hidden world of the
fetus and explore each trimester in amazing new detail. NGC presents a two-
hour special that uses revolutionary 3D and 4D ultrasound imagery to shed
light on the delicate, dark world of a fetus. Viewers will also witness a rare
in utero surgery performed in the hope of correcting life-threatening
complications before birth.

EXPLORER - Tiny Humans: The Hobbits of Flores (Sunday, March 13 at
8 p.m. ET/PT)
In an extraordinary discovery that made front page headlines around the
world, scientists uncovered evidence of a race of "hobbit-sized" prehistoric
species on a remote Indonesian island.  A full-grown adult would have been as
tall as an average three-year-old child today. Most amazing of all,
researchers believe this ancient race lived at the same time as modern humans,
sharing the earth for at least 80,000 years. "Explorer - Tiny Humans: The
Hobbits of Flores" delivers the world's first in-depth documentary of this
groundbreaking find that could to rewrite the textbooks.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC'S MOST EXTREME MOMENTS AND NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC'S MOST
DANGEROUS MOMENTS (Sunday, March 13 from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT)
Two riveting back-to-back specials count down more dramatic events
captured on film through the National Geographic lens.

At 9 p.m. ET/PT, "National Geographic's Most Extreme Moments" takes you
to the farthest reaches of the planet - and human and animal nature -
from scarification rituals for young boys in Papua New Guinea, to tiger
sharks cannibalizing their own siblings in the womb, to a parachute dive
from over 100,000 feet up, the highest in history. Segments include:
"Amazing Brushes with Death," "Amazing Bodies," "Amazing Predators,"
"Nature's Amazing Fury" and "Amazing Quests."

      At 10 p.m. ET/PT, "National Geographic's Most Dangerous Moments"
features thrilling moments of fear in the face of (almost) certain death
-- from a polar bear attack at a zoo to a glacier wall collapse in the
Italian Alps to base jumping in the Arctic Circle. Segments include:
"Amazing Wild Encounters," "Amazing Animal Rescues," "Amazing Fury of
Nature," "Amazing Rites of Pain" and "Amazing Challenges."

    EXPLORER: Hogzilla (Sunday, March 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT)
Sasquatch ...  The Loch Ness Monster ...  The Abominable Snowman ...
these are monsters of myth and legend that live in our imagination. But now, a
new monster has emerged from the swamps of southern Georgia. And this legend
is different ... because one man claims he killed the beast reputed to weigh
1,000 pounds, and knows exactly where it is buried. The conquest is even
celebrated in a town-wide festival. Join "Explorer" on a forensic
investigation into this mysterious creature, and find out the truth behind the
legend of HOGZILLA!

SEARCH FOR THE ULTIMATE SURVIVOR (Sunday, March 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT)
New evidence reveals our prehistoric ancestors did not walk the earth
alone. From giants of unmatched size and strength to prehistoric "hobbit-like"
species half the size of today's human, a new generation of scientists is
reconstructing moments in time and discovering many different species
competing for survival. So with all of these different human experiments, why
were we the ultimate survivor? "Search for the Ultimate Survivor" circles the
globe on a seven million-year-long journey to present the latest chapter in
what may be the ultimate detective story.

QUEST FOR TRUTH: THE CRUCIFIXION (Easter Sunday, March 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT)
Do films like "The Passion of the Christ" accurately portray the death of
Jesus Christ? "Quest for Truth: The Crucifixion" takes viewers to the Holy
Land with experts who investigate the details of this barbaric method of
execution. Why was it used by first century Romans and how did it originate?
What exactly happens during a crucifixion? Uncover new insight that challenges
conventional wisdom about this ancient practice as experiments are performed
on virtual models and real people to measure how the body reacts.

QUEST FOR TRUTH: BIBLE CODE (wt) (Easter Sunday, March 27 at 10 p.m.
ET/PT)
Could the end of the world be just three years away? Does the Bible
contain hidden clues to confirm this wild prediction? What other secrets are
hidden in the scriptures? "Quest for Truth: Bible Code" investigates these
allegations and hears from both sides -- those who believe in the "code" and
those who questions whether it exists at all.
